Dr. Boothe was born and raised in Texas. He graduated summa cum laude and received his MD degree from Rice University. He completed his residency at Texas Tech University School of Ophthalmology. Then William Boothe completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the Presbyterian Hospital and attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Later he completed his fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Jules Stein Eye Institute (University of California Los Angeles Medical School).
Dr. Boothe is a board-certified Lasik surgeon and Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Professional societies include the American Medical Association, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Texas Ophthalmologic Association, The Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology and more.
In his spare time, Dr. Boothe actively helps many different organisations including the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association by donating, volunteering and sponsoring them.
Having done 119,850 Lasik and over 71,950 IntraLasik surgeries, Dr. William Boothe understands the importance of high precision in refractive procedures that can be achieved only with the use of the latest, highly advanced technologies.
William Boothe has been a pioneer in the field of laser eye surgery for over twenty years. He is among the first eye surgeons in the nation to utilize excimer laser for Lasik and other vision correction procedures. Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center is proud to be one of the first centers in the area to use Wavefront technology and provide a really tailored treatment for both lower and higher order eye aberrations of the whole visual system. In 1999, Dr. Boothe was chosen by VISX (nowadays a division of Abbott Medical Optics) as “Surgeon of the Year” and was recognized as the world’s most experienced eye surgeon in the field of Wavefront Customized Lasik surgery.
In addition to Lasik and IntraLasik procedures, Dr. Boothe also specializes in Excimer Laser Photo Refractive Keratectomy (PRK), Radial Keratotomy (RK), Automated Lamellar Keratotomy (ALK), cataracts, intraocular lenses and Wavefront technology. He is certified and experienced with the iFS Advanced Femtosecond Laser, VISX Star S4, ALLEGRETTO WAVE® and Alcon LADARVision 4000 excimer lasers.
