Nourish your eyes and let them rest
Sunlight nourishes the body as well as water and food. The eyes see better in natural lighting. It is known that if you spend most of the day indoors with artificial lighting, it can cause problems to your vision and overall health.

In order for the body to receive the necessary amount of natural light, you have to spend at least 30 minutes a day outdoors without glasses or contact lenses. We recommend using sunglasses only when a blinding light (on the beach or ski resort) is present. They should be neutral gray in color. In this case, the glasses evenly detain all the components of the light spectrum. There are recent concerns about the destruction of the protective ozone layer and the negative effects arising due to too much sunlight.
In itself, sun exposure is not harmful, but it can be after a long break from sun exposure. For example, it can be harmful after a few days of sitting indoors with an artificial light. Of course, it is very important to limit the time sunbathing and other extreme methods of stay in the sun. But for health reasons is very important to spend a little time in the sun on a regular basis.

Use the weakened glasses

If you wear glasses or contact lenses, you probably know that the need for stronger glasses appear almost every year. This loss of vision caused by many reasons, but it can be avoided by using weakened glasses. If you are nearsighted, you will not be able to read the bottom line optometric table in weak spectacles. But you can read the eighth or ninth line, which means that you can drive safely and see normally in almost all situations.

If you’re using weakened reading glasses, you may have to hold the text a little further away from the eye than usual. Weakened glasses make your eyes, which are used to fully depend on the glasses, work.

If do exercises for the eyes, your vision will improve, and even weakened glasses would be too strong for you. And then the time comes to use even weaker glasses. If you follow these tips, your need for glasses will gradually decrease and vision will to improve, while the constant wearing of glasses and lenses weaken eyesight.

Relax and fix your posture
Disorders of posture and physical stress are associated with visual problems, so it’s important to learn how to relieve tension and relax. Vision depends on the tension in the body, especially in the upper body such as the chest, shoulders, neck and face. Do not forget to relax the forehead, shoulders and jaw.

This will facilitate and accelerate the process of supplying blood and oxygen to the visual system. In addition, any form of cleansing the body – especially the circulatory and lymphatic systems – helps to remove toxins from the body, affecting the improvement of vision.

Did you know that every second a case of blindness is caused by lack of substances that are not synthesized by the body and are exclusively obtained with food?
Every moment the human body is faced with a variety of environmental factors. Light and sound affects us, temperature and humidity, the food that we eat and our way of life. Each body has its own function, and their “occupational hazard”. For example, the most negative factor to the eye is light. It does not matter if it is natural sunlight or artificial light.

Light is the Enemy
Any light is harmful to the eye: the light rays falling on the retina and destroying its photoreceptors, rods and cones. These special cells convert light into nerve impulses, which then goes to the brain, where visual images are formed. Since birth a person is given a huge strategic reserve of 7 million cones and 120 million rods, which allow him to see well both day and night. However, their number declines steadily under the influence of light that, over time, causes loss of vision and in some cases threatens with blindness.

Also, the rods and cones are destroyed by free radicals. These aggressive molecules are formed under the influence of bright light in the retina and lens. They cause a violation in capillary permeability, reducing the transparency of the lens and causing irreversible damage to the cells of the retina. Such “damage” can accumulate and cause a progressive decrease in visual acuity and the development of age-related changes in the eye (glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration).

The formation of free radicals in the tissues of the eye occurs under the influence of constant exposure to light, regardless of what you are doing.
The mechanism of eye protection from damaging effects

No wonder nature has provided a mechanism for us to protect our eyes from the damaging effects of light rays. For the proper functioning of the antioxidant system of the eye there are responsible natural pigments carotenoids – lutein and zeaxanthin. They are accumulated in the retina and the lens, and create a natural filter that absorbs most harmful light rays such as ultraviolet.
Lutein is ingested with food only, but it is not synthesized in the body. Zeaxanthin is formed from lutein in the tissues of the eye. At first glance, every day you should have 5 mg lutein and 1 mg zeaxanthin. However, to provide such amounts of lutein from food you should consume at least a half-kilo of carrots, a pound of pepper, or about 250 grams of spinach. The daily diet is able to compensate for the almost one-third of the daily requirements of carotenoids, so nutraceutical supplementation is vital for maintaining healthy eyes.

How do you choose the right vitamin supplements for the eyes?
First, you must undergo a full vision examination. You can have this done at Boothe Eye Care Center where special equipment and the latest technology are used. Remember that only a specialist can determine which treatment you need your eyes. Dr. William Boothe has vast experience and he is always happy to help you correct your vision so you can see clearly.

Regular check ups for your vision should be required for each person. Ideally, the diagnosis of visual impairment should be held once a year in order to have time to detect any disease at an early stage of its development.

Diagnosis of impairment involves the analysis of the ability of the human eye to clearly see objects at distance and nearby, as well as an assessment of the field of vision and ability to distinguish colors.
As a rule, for the diagnosis of visual impairment, special tables are shown to the person, which consist of a set of numbers, letters, or other symbols of different sizes. The table can be fixed to a wall or displayed on it using a projector. The patient must determine what is shown by stating the letters, symbols, and numbers they see.First, a check of visual acuity in each eye is done when the patient is asked to cover one eye by hand, and uses their second eye try to consider the characters. Then visual acuity in both eyes is checked when the patient uses both eyes.

If the result of the diagnosis of visual impairment shows reduced vision, Dr. William Boothe establishes the causes of visual impairment. He may also suggest refraction analysis of the patient.
The study of human refractive error is to identify the intensity of the optical means for correcting vision, which are necessary to the patient in order to see normally.Errors in the study of refraction can occur when light rays are not focused on the center of the retina, but a little after it or before it. Diagnosis of visual impairment should involve the study of refraction if the person wears glasses or contact lenses.

Diagnosis of visual impairment, which defines the characteristics of the field of view, consists of estimation of peripheral vision, which is the field of vision that people can see when the eye is at a particular direction. Accordingly, the objects in the center of the field of view are seen more clearly, but in the peripherals, what the person sees is blurry and fuzzy.
How often should you undergo the process of diagnosis of visual impairment?

Check ups should be regular. If a person has not observed any violations of the visual function, the diagnosis of visual impairment should be conducted on a specific schedule:
-	Almost immediately after birth;
-	Semi-annually as a child;
-	After a child’s 3rdbirthday;
-	Before entering school, and every year after that;
-	Every two years between the ages of twenty and sixty-five years;
-	Annually after sixty-five years.

If you want to get an accurate diagnosis, you can go visit your local eye care professional. If you are interested in laser eye surgery, schedule a consultation with Dr. William Boothe. Our eye center is located in Plano, Texas and have served over 100,000 patients.

It should be noted that when wearing contact lenses Dr. William Boothe recommends following some rules on the application of cosmetics.
First of all, you need put on contact lenses, and then begin to apply make-up around the eye area. If you put contact lenses after you put on your make-up, there is a huge possibility that the cosmetic materials may get on the lens.

This can lead to contamination of the contact lenses and further discomfort to the wearer. In this case, the lenses need to be processed again. We also know the fact that contact lenses should be removed from the eyes before you wash makeup off your entire face.

Make-up, whether it’s mascara, eye shadow, or blush must be sufficiently dense and shallowly dispersed. This is necessary, above all, to avoid a breakdown and contact with eyes during application. Mascara should be water based. Do not use aqueous mascara.

Before you buy mascara you should take note of the label.You should check if it has successfully passed ophthalmologic control. In the case of French manufacturing output, it must contain a sign “VA” or the inscription “Aqua”.

The ideal situation would be mascara designed for people wearing contact lenses. If you use waterproof mascara, it is quite possible that soon the lens surface will be contaminated with complex and lipid deposits.

As a result, there will be no wetting zone, dry spots, as well as gel conglomerates on the lens surface. For women who wear contact lenses, we recommend having the correct approach to the choice of volume and lengthening mascara, because these contain microfibers that could easily come offa nd fall on the lens, as well as directly on the mucous of the eye.

This usually leads to discomfort and, in some cases, even an injury. In order to achieve the effect of extending, the use of ink, which in its composition contains nylon fibers.

It should also be noted that the makeup of the eyelids and eyelashes should be wiped off before bedtime. In order to remove eye makeup, you should use a cloth with a remover specifically designed for this purpose such as impregnated hydrophilic oil, or gels. It must be remembered that your contacts should be removed before your makeup. The first source of lipid surface contamination of contact lenses is creams for skin care and hand tools, designed to remove makeup.

It is important to remove the lenses before you use the cream to remove makeup. If you do not do that the lipid deposits will accumulate on the surface of contact lenses. Since the surface of contact lenses will gradually dry up, leading to eye irritation. A large accumulation of lipid deposits is called lipid “bumps” because of which on the surface of the lens is created zone of non-wet ability.

Each patient who considers visiting Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center wants to know the overall price of the procedures. For most of the patients laser eye correction surgert is very desirable in their lives. They want to know everything associated with Lasik: equipment used, techniques that are applied, postoperative complications, and (of course) price for the course of treatment. But most importantly- how successful will the result be and how much will it cost? After a thorough exam of your eyes at Boothe Laser Center, Dr. Boothe can offer you an appropriate plan of surgery. He will give you time to consider the pros and cons about Lasik.

Dr. William Boothe has both proper training and extensive operative experience. He has a large number of successful surgeries and his credentials are stellar. Remember that if you first look for the cheapest surgeon, you may end up getting treated by a doctor with minimal training and a low amount of experience. Do you really want to trust your eyes in the hands of such a surgeon?

Dr. Boothe uses a laser system that is FDA approved for surgical eye procedures. Today, there exist various technologies in laser eye practice, which are performed on different types of machines. Dr. Boothe performs laser eye surgery on a machine that is best suited to correct different eyesight prescriptions. The equipment at Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center is constantly maintained which is included in some of the costs. Equipment used has an effect on the price of surgery. If you find surgery with a discount price in most cases it means that equipment is not high quality or maintenance is not fulfilled properly.

Dr. William Boothe takes enough time for each patient, which is important because many problems can be avoided if the proper eyesight testing and screening is done. He always truthfully answers all questions, explains step by step how the procedure will be, and goes over a list of the risks and complications. Dr. Boothe also devotes a lot of time for follow up visits with postoperative sight exams and performs enhancements if it is necessary. At Boothe Eye Laser Center, the quoted price includes all procedures and visits. An opthalmology center with discount prices most likely skimp on appointments and time for each patient in terms of tests, visits, and enhancements.

In order to choose an appropriate laser eye procedure, Dr. William Boothe determines your eyesight prescription. Dr. Boothe treats each patient individually so the type of correction will be performed according to your vision prescription. The more extensive correction your eyesight requires, the higher the costs.

Traditional Lasik surgery is affordable for each person. Dr. Boothe takes responsibility for the choice of method of treatment and prescribes necessary procedures. Based on this the costs of Lasik options can be changed. Each of us may choose a surgeon, price, or ophthalmology center but it is better that you do not waste your time looking for the cheapest, unskilled treatment and visit Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center.

A month ago, a miracle happened. I can finally see without contact lenses. Before my laser eye correction, I read many patient reviews and had many consultations. I stopped at the Boothe Eye Laser Center. Why? Dr. William Boothe of Boothe Eyecare was the first surgeon who recommended the IntraLase procedure which uses the iFC Advanced Femtosecond Laser. I was surprised and I asked him to tell me more about this option. Dr. Boothe said that it is the newest technology used to achieve the best result from laser surgery. The iFC Advanced Femtosecond Laser makes the cut more carefully and quickly, reducing the risk of irritation after surgery. I read many patient testimonials and many were initially afraid of how it would affect the eyes. Dr. William Boothe helped ease my worries and I immediately agreed to have the procedure done.

I would highly recommend IntraLase surgery to anyone who wants to end up with great eyesight and is being bothered with eyeglasses or contact lenses. Also I would highly recommend doing such a procedure with Dr. William Boothe and his staff because they are thorough all the way through. If anyone is looking into laser surgery I suggest they visit Boothe Eyecare.

IntraLase procedure gives you freedom

From start to finish my treatment under Dr. William Boothe and his miracle staff was comfortable, professional and friendly. I have never felt such sincere attention to patients by clinic staff. I wanted to improve my vision using a safe option. I was glad when Dr. Boothe introduced me to the newest technology for vision correction. The iFC Advanced Femtosecond Laser used for the IntraLase procedure was the best solution to my vision problem. This unique laser allows a neat cut on the retina so it positively affects the postoperative period. I trust that by using the iFC Advanced Femtosecond Laser to correct my vision, it gave me freedom from postoperative complications. Now I can see everything, no matter the distance. I forget about squinting and I do not worry of weather condition and how often my eyesight would change. I am happy because in the evening I can read and in the morning I wake up and see the alarm clock. Although these sound like very simple things, but they are important and taken for granted! I am forever grateful to Dr. William Boothe for allowing me to enjoy these simple pleasures…

Everything was perfect!!!

Through all my life I suffered from poor vision and I always used the glasses, which changed every year due to my prescription. I was tired and tried to find solution. I read many articles online about Lasik procedure and I wanted to improve vision by laser correction. When I visited Dr. Boothe I did not feel any discomfort. I was a good candidate for laser eye surgery. During the first consultation Dr. Boothe offered me a few kinds of laser surgery: Lasik, IntraLasik and IntraLase, which is a procedure performed by the iFC Advanced Femtosecond Laser. He thoroughly explained each option and all pros and cons of laser treatment. According to my eye conditions his assistant estimated the cost of my treatment, which included all needed procedures and medications. Dr. Boothe gave me time to think about what I wanted and I chose IntraLase because of the high tech equipment used and the accuracy it would provide. Everything was perfect. I underwent the laser surgery without pain, discomfort, and postoperative complications. My vision each day became better and better!! I would encourage anyone who will be a good candidate for laser eye surgery to have the IntraLase procedure. My visit to Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center changed my life for the better!

After anesthetic eye drops are applied, the eyelids are held open using a blepharostat. This prevents the patient from blinking. The patient is asked to look at a luminous point in the device in order to center the position of the eye.

1.	The markup is applied to the cornea. The eye is fixed by vacuum ring.
2.	With the help of microkeratome (a special tool) the upper layer of the cornea is separated and a flap is created and pulled back.
3.	Then Dr. William Boothe begins to laser treatment and an excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea.
4.	After completion of laser treatment cornea is washed with a special solution. The flap is lowered into place and serves as a kind of “natural bandage.”Anti-inflammatory drops and antibiotics are then applied. An eye patch is worn,protecting it from external influences.

After your Lasik Eye Correction Procedure

Discomfort after Lasik laser vision correction during the recovery period is minimal.Typically, after a few hours the patient is able to see better after the procedure. Full vision is restored within 3-5 days, depending on the individual characteristics of the eyes.

Special medicated eye drops will be needed for a few days after surgery in order to protect your eyes from infection. Be sure to follow all the directions on the prescription!
After the laser correction of severe degrees of nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, patients may need some time to adapt to their new vision. Our specialists at Boothe Eye Care Center have ways to help you adjust to your new vision.

The result of laser correction (i.e., the new shape of the cornea) over the years does not change. If you are 20 years old have made such a correction, then at ages 25-35 you will still be a tgood eyesight. Of course, Dr. W. Boothe will determine what your visual impairment, anomaly (i.e., short-sightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism), or symptom of ocular disorders (such as keratoconus) are.

Laser vision correction cannot protect against age-related changes of the body that occur after 40-45 years of age (presbyopia). However, after 40-45 years, many people use laser vision correction. If a patient has had poor eyesight all their life, and with age it becomes even worse, laser surgery can relieve at least from those diopters.

Myopia or nearsightedness is one of the most common types of refractive errors, affecting nearly one third of the world’s population. Nearsighted people have difficulty seeing objects at a distance, but are able to see closer objects well. For example, they do not have a problem reading a book or sewing. Some symptoms of myopia are headaches or tension in the eyes while driving or examining distant objects.

It is important to notice the first signs of myopia. Over straining your eye muscles may contribute to the progression of myopia. If treated early by special exercises and training of the internal muscles of the eye can restore vision in some cases.

Dr. William Boothe uses modern technologies that provide a wide spectrum of treatment for myopia. Depending on the type of myopia, its extent, and progression over time Dr. Boothe can choose a suitable treatment strategy specifically for you. Myopia can be corrected with conservative methods such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, refractive therapy (orthokeratology), surgery, refractive surgery such as laser vision correction, implantation of phakic lenses, or replacing the lens.

Progressive myopia is a contraindication for the laser vision correction procedure but can be corrected by scleroplasty or enhance eye exercises. If you have progressive myopia Dr. Boothe can recommend a strengthening course of laser coagulation of the retina. After that, you will be a good candidate for laser eye surgery.
Laser Vision Correction

Lasik, also known as refractive surgery, is a laser procedure that can reduce or even eliminate your need for eyeglasses or contact lenses. There are several methods of vision correction that are actively used throughout the world.

The most famous and best-proven method is Lasik. This technique has been used in our clinic for over 20 years and has been repeatedly tested and refined.
Lasik is the removal technology of the corneal flap that is predetermined by a computer-controlled excimer laser. Lasik is one of the most popular procedures, along with other operations of refractive surgery. Last year Lasik operations was preferred by more than 10,000 patients.

Laser eye surgery takes less than ten minutes and is conducted with the help of a local anesthetic in the form of eye drops. This method is painless and requires minimal effort in terms of preoperative and postoperative care. Patients should refrain from wearing contact lenses and use of cosmetics before the procedure. It is also recommended to keep your eyes closed for several hours after surgery to ensure optimal healing. Most often wearing bandages are not required. The patient can return to their daily routines and activities soon after the procedure.

Of course, regular follow up consultations with Dr. Boothe are necessary to maintain the healing process. The risk of complications from this procedure is minimal, but Dr. Boothe will explain in detail your course of operation, advantages and disadvantages, and possible risks of complications during the consultation.

Currently, there are several methods of refractive surgery, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages. What is common to all methods is the need to change the curvature of the cornea by use of an excimer laser. When a patient suffers from myopia, the central parts of the cornea is evaporated, which leads to some flattening. According to the laws of optics, a lens that has a flatter curvature of the surface is weaker when bending light rays. Thus, changes in the corneal curvature moves the focus onto the retina and therefore, a significant increase of visual acuity without eyeglasses or contact lenses.

With hyperopia, by contrast, peripheral parts of the cornea are evaporated, and better vision is achieved by strengthening of the curvature of the central optical zone. The cornea refracts more rays entering the eye, and the focus moves to the retina.

IntraLasik & Lasik
At the Boothe EyeCare & Laser Center many different kinds of the laser vision correction procedures are performed. The most famous laser procedure is IntraLasik surgery.
IntraLasik has a fundamental difference from other methods of laser vision correction. This is the creation of the corneal flap by the laser, not a mechanical microkeratome. At the same time IntraLasik can be combined with any excimer laser technology designed for Lasik, including the standard ablation, ablation on the basis of the Wavefront, and aspheric ablation.

Patients who have completed IntraLasik operations at Boothe Eye Care Center reported the benefits of using a Femtosecond laser. According to many patients, IntraLasik provides more accurate thickness, shape, and contour of the flap throughout the slice. This technology allows Dr. Boothe to create a flap of any size and arrange the “leg” of the flap in any meridian.

However, the main practical advantage of IntraLasik eye surgery is the possibility of forming a thinner corneal flap in comparison with a mechanical microkeratome. It is very important for patients with high myopia and thin corneas to carry out excimer laser vision correction.

In addition, the Femtosecond laser is used for different types of lamellar and penetrating keratoplasty.

One of the most popular and successful technologies being used in eye correction surgery and other eye procedures is the IFC Femtosecond Laser. This new technology produces long-term results. Almost all patients who underwent the Lasik procedure using the IFC laser system had exclusively positive reports!

For surgeons, the ease of use of the iFC Femtosecond Laser is one of the best advantages. It allows the performing surgeon to execute the procedure with little error that results in less post-operative side effects during the recovery period.
